Common sense isn't.
The figure above and table below summarize the plant's historical electricity production, based on the recently released update from TVA.As of a few minutes ago, the Generation data on the TVA web page referenced above had not actually been updated, but the associated PDF newsletter had been; I can only assume that data in the PDF file is correct, but the web page clearly is not (yet). I did send TVA a couple notes informing them of their error.
As always, TVA still refuses to provide timely or detailed information regarding the performance of their wind power plant, even when requested under the Freedom of Information Act.
TVA's latest newsletter also celebrates Staples and BP Oil company participating in "Green" power purchase programs. In other news, prices of their products will increase slightly.
For the first time in over 2 years, TVA has finally released data for the same ending date as a previous year, so an accurate statement of annual production is finally possible. On the other hand, the previous year's comparable seasonal time period was for two months, and this year's time period is for 3 months, so seasonal comparison remains difficult.
Annual energy production from April 30, 2002 to April 30, 2003 was 3.74 million kilowatt hours. Compare this production with TVA's original announced, annual goal (pre-operations) of 6 million kilowatt hours, and TVA's announced revised annual goal (2002) of 4.6 million kilowatt hours. They need to achieve 27% capacity factor to meet the revised goal. The last two quarters met or slightly exceeded that goal; however, the previous six months were far below the goal. The resulting annual average capacity factor was 22%.

Quote of the moment |
"I only wanted to see what the garden was like, your Majesty---" "That's right," said the Queen, patting her on the head, which Alice didn't like at all: "though, when you say `garden'---_I've_ seen gardens, compared with which this would be a wilderness." Alice didn't dare to argue the point, but went on: "---and I thought I'd try and find my way to the top of that hill---" "When you say `hill,'" the Queen interrupted, "_I_ could show you hills, in comparison with which you'd call that a valley." "No, I shouldn't," said Alice, surprised into contradicting her at last: "a hill _can't_ be a valley, you know. That would be nonsense---" The Red Queen shook her head. "You may call it `nonsense' if you like," she said, "but _I've_ heard nonsense, compared with which that would be as sensible as a dictionary!" |
